Unova

After his journey in Sinnoh was over, Ash decided to go to Unova along with his mom, and Professor Oak. Suddenly, Pikachu is hit with electricity from a big dark cloud and it was unable to use any Electric type moves until a second Thunderstorm came up and healed it. This was a mysterious beginning to the Unova arc.

Featured characters

Iris: Iris is a young girl who decided to follow Ash on his journey. Her dream was to become a Dragon type master. Her partner Axew, doesn’t go into its Poké Ball and prefers to sit in Iris’ hair.

Cilan: Like Brock, Cilan also decided to go with Ash and Iris on their journey after Ash beat him in a battle for the Gym Badge. He was the Gym Leader of Striaton City along with his brothers.

Trip: Trip was Ash’s main Rival in the Unova Region. He had a digital camera and he took many photos of his journey. He prefers not to share his emotions with others. One time he helped Ash, who was having trouble with his Oshawott using Aqua Jet.

Gym Leaders: The Gym Leaders of the Unova Region are: Cilan and his brothers, Lenora, Burgh, Elesa, Clay, Skyla, Brycen, and Roxie and Marlon (however Ash did not fight him, but his rival Cameron did).

Pokémon caught by Ash

Episode 659, Enter Iris and Axew!: Ash saw a horde of Pidoves and tried to catch one of those. However, the other Pidove were protecting it. Ash noticed one Pidove who was alone and successfully caught it!

Episode 660, A Sandile Gusher of Change!: An Oshawott, from Pofessor Juniper’s lab was following Ash since the previous episode and Oshawott joined Ash’s team!

Episode 661, The Battle Club and Tepig’s Choice!: Ash and Iris found a skinny and weak Tepig with a rope tied around its mouth so it couldn’t eat. Ash fed it and later Team Rocket stole Pikachu and Tepig helped Ash. Iris tried to catch that Tepig but Tepig wanted to join Ash and of course Ash wanted the same too!

Episode 664, Snivy Plays Hard to Catch!: Ash encountered a wild Snivy who knew Attract and it was very difficult to catch it with this move. However Ash’s last Pokémon, Pidove was female so Attract didn’t work and after winning the battle, Ash caught it!

Episode 674, Scraggy – Hatched to be Wild!: Ash’s Egg hatched into a Scraggy and Ash caught it!

Episode 675, Sewaddle and Burgh in Pinwheel Forest!: Ash encountered a strong Sewaddle and decided to catch it but it fled. Later it was in danger and Ash helped it. Sweaddle appreciated that and joined Ash’s team!

Episode 689, Facing Fear with Eyes Wide Open!: Ash was searching for a medicine underwater with Oshawott so they can heal the other Pokémon who got poisoned. They encountered a strong Palpitoad. After a battle with Oshawott, Ash caught Palpitoad.

Episode 691, Gotta Catch a Roggenrola!: Ash encountered a Roggenrola and tried to catch it but failed. Later, the group found out that Team Rocket was stealing Roggenrola to make a weapon. They rescued all the Roggenrola and the first encountered Roggenrola wanted to join Ash!

Episode 722, Battling the Bully!: Ash met a Krokorok, it was the same Sandile they had met in previous episodes. Krokorok challenged Pikachu to a battle but both Pokémon blasted off. Pikachu landed on a young kid, who later asked Ash to use Pikachu on a battle against two other kids. It was a double battle and Krokorok joined too. Later Ash battled Krokorok again and Pikachu won. Krokorok was disappointed about losing, but Ash offered it a place on his team and Krokorok accepted!

Pokémon evolved

Episode 679, A Venipede Stampede!: The group encountered Burgh, the Gym Leader of Castelia City and they all tried to stop a horde of angry Venipede. While battling, Ash’s Pidove was hit with a Sludge Bomb and then it started to evolve into Tranquill!

Episode 680, Battling for the Love of Bug-Types!: Ash was having a battle with Burgh when suddenly Ash’s Sewaddle evolved into Swadloon and learned Energy Ball!

Episode 718, Battling the King of the Mines!: Ash was battling Clay and his Roggenrola evolved into Boldore, and also learned Rock Blast and Rock Smash!

Episode 725, An Amazing Aerial Battle!: During Ash’s battle against Skyla, his Tranquill evolved into Unfezant and learned Aerial Ace!

Episode 731, Battling the Leaf Thieves:! Ash and Iris were training with their Swadloon and Emolga when suddenly, Swadloon evolved into Leavanny!

Episode 734, Evolution by Fire!: Ash encountered Tepig’s former trainer, who abandoned it and had a battle with him. During the battle, Tepig evolved and learned Fire Pledge!

Episode 749, Ash, Iris, and Trip: Then There Were Three: During the semi-final battle in the Pokémon World Tournament between Ash’s Krokorok and Iris’ Dragonite, Krokorok into Krookodile and learned Dragon Claw!

Episode 725, An Amazing Aerial Battle!: Ash was battling Skyla and his first Pokémon was Krokorok while Skyla’s was Swoobat. Krokorok tried to attack with Stone Edge after using Dig but Swoobat sent it back with Gust and finished it with Air Cutter! Ash’s next Pokémon was Tranquill, who knocked out Swoobat with Air Cutter too. Skyla chose Unfezant for her new Pokémon. After some time battling, Ash switched Tranquill back and chose Pikachu who beat Unfezant with Iron Tail and Electro Ball. Next, Skyla chose Swanna who beat Pikachu with Bubblebeam, Hurricane and Brave Bird. Ash’s remaining Pokémon, Tranquill is knocked down due to Swanna’s Hurricane but started to evolve. When evolved, it learned a new move and finished the battle with Aerial Ace!

Episode 760, and 761, “Curtain Up, Unova League!” and “Mission Defeat Your Rival!”: Ash had to battle Trip on the first round of the Unova League in a one on one bout. Trip chose Serperior and Ash chose Pikachu. Pikachu tried to attack with Quick Attack, Iron Tail and Electro Ball but Serperior easily dodged these moves and hit Pikachu with Dragon Tail, Energy Ball and one more Dragon Tail. Then Pikachu was trapped because of Serperior’s Wrap. Serperior was about to hit Pikachu into the ground but Pikachu used Iron Tail on the battlefield and escaped. Pikachu used Iron Tail again but Serperior used Dragon Tail to defend it. Then Pikachu used a combination of Iron Tail and Electro Ball. Serperior tried to defend it with Dragon Tail again but this time Pikachu overpowered Serperior and won the battle!
