Version Exclusive Pokémon, New Features Revealed in New Sun/Moon Trailer

Today’s news brings a new trailer! New Pokemon, Rockruff’s Evolutions, Trainer Customisation and Z-Moves feature today.

A new Pokémon Sun & Moon trailer has been posted by the Pokémon YouTube account.

In the trailer, we see two new Pokémon, as well as Rockruff’s evolved form, exclusive Z-moves and some new features.

New Pokémon

Oranguru is a Normal/Psychic Pokémon, and Passimian is a Fighting-type Pokémon. Oranguru is exclusive to Pokémon Moon, and Passimian to Pokémon Sun.

Passimian fights by throwing berries, and will work as teams by passing the berries to each other (think like the sport of rugby). It also has a brand new Ability, Receiver. With the Receiver Ability, this Pokémon can inherit the Ability of an ally who faints in battle.

Oranguru is known as the Sage Pokémon. They are known to use Trainer-based items, and have even been sighted throwing Poké Balls. Those fan-like objects they hold are made by leaves held together by its fur. Instruct is a move that only Oranguru can learn. It can make the selected target use its most recent move again immediately.

Lycanroc – Version exclusive after all

Rockruff’s evolution has the localised name Lycanroc. Its forms are the Midday and Midnight forms. The forms both retain their Rock-type and are exclusive to Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon respectively. Midday Form has Sand Rush, and Midnight Form has Vital Spirit. Both also have access to the Keen Eye ability.

Accelerock is a move that only Midday Form Lycanroc can learn. It slams into an opponent with quick moves. This move is guaranteed to strike first! Midnight Form Lycanroc gains Counter. These details suggest they may have other unique moves.

New Z-Moves

The trailer also reveals Pikachu’s and Eevee’s exclusive Z-Moves. Pikachu’s is called Catastropika and Eevee’s is Extreme EvoBoost.

Eevee’s exclusive Z-Move, Extreme Evoboost, gathers together Sylveon, Jolteon, and more—all of the eight Pokémon that Eevee can evolve into—and grants their power to Eevee. This powerful move raises Eevee’s Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed by 2

Pikachu’s exclusive Z-Move, Catastropika, is a superpowered attack move where Pikachu borrows its Trainer’s strength, wrapping itself in extra-high-voltage electric power, and charging into its opponent. This will become Pikachu’s most powerful attack!

They definitely sound like strong attacks!

Pokémon Refresh

Also featured is an upgrade to Gen VI’s Pokémon-Amie, Pokémon Refresh.

Looking good, Oranguru!

It is stated that “by caring for your Pokémon, you can also cure status conditions like poisoning and paralysis that were inflicted on your Pokémon in battle.”  It gives the same boosts that Pokémon-Amie gave, such as the ability for Pokémon to dodge moves in battle.

Trainer Customisation

Finally, trainer customisation is featured in the trailer, with the option to dye your player’s hair as well as buy new clothes featured.
