Nintendo reveals Nintendo Switch Lite System plus a Special Pokémon Edition

Come November 8, timed one week before Sword and Shield, is the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition.

Nintendo have just announced the new Nintendo Switch Lite, a handheld variant of the Nintendo Switch system. With it, they’ve also introduced a Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield edition of the console.

The new handheld, along with its Pokémon-themed special edition, will cost US$199.99. Designed exclusively for handheld play, this variant of the Switch will not support TV play. It’s probably not the best way to enjoy the new Pokémon games. That said, if you’ve always seen yourself as a handheld person and never connect the Switch to your TV, then it might not matter too much to you. You may even dig the built-in controls and the D-Pad.

The Nintendo Switch Lite releases in the Americas on September 20, 2019, in yellow, gray and turquoise. The Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition releases on November 8, 2019.

“November is shaping up to be a big month for Pokémon fans, with the arrival of this special hardware followed by the launch of the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games one week later,” said Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser. “The Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition will be a great gift for Pokémon fans who want to play the latest games on the go.”

More information about the new handheld can be found at Nintendo’s website.
