James Turner leaving Game Freak to start studio, ‘The Plucky Squire’ game

‘All Possible Futures’ is the new studio he will co-lead, and the trailer for their first game has also dropped.

James Turner, Art Director for the generation eight titles Pokémon Sword and Shield, has announced he is starting a new game studio, All Possible Futures.

In a reply, he confirmed that he is no longer at Game Freak. It is unknown if he has contributed to development of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, although it is unlikely he is the Art Director anymore. (Meanwhile, we know that another person involved in the generation eight titles, Toby Fox, has created multiple tracks for the upcoming games).

The first game of his new studio, The Plucky Squire, was soon after revealed.

James Turner began his work with the Pokémon franchise as part of Genius Sonority, and is credited with the design of XD001, aka Shadow Lugia. He later joined Game Freak and has been credited with the designs of other Pokémon, such as Vanillite, Golett, Sinistea, and Guzzlord.

Best of luck with the new studio to James Turner!
