Celebi announced as Special Research reward for Pokémon GO

Celebi travels through time to show itself to Pokémon GO players! Don’t worry – you can still get Mew if you haven’t got it yet.

It appears that Celebi has been announced as the next Special Research reward for Pokemon GO.

Starting August 20, the Time Travel Pokémon will make itself known to players. As per usual, Special Research tasks will be rewarded with XP, items or Pokémon encounters, but Special Research pertaining to Celebi can only be undertaken after completing the third set of tasks for Mew. Fortunately, players who have not obtained Mew will not miss out, as they can complete tasks for both Mythical Pokémon. Should players already have a Celebi from this year’s GO Fest, they will be rewarded with Celebi Candy, allowing them to power up their Celebi further.

Field Research tasks for Celebi will involve Johto Pokémon such as Totodile and Larvitar, and Johto Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. Some new  trainer clothing styles will be made available in the Style Shop, such as a Celebi T-shirt and Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver accessories. The latter is unlocked based on the player’s Johto medal progress.
