Niantic Offers Refunds and $100 in Pokécoins after GO Fest Complications

Niantic offer a small amount of compensation, after travellers from all over stumble into complications during the GO Fest

Unfortunately, the recent Pokémon GO Fest hosted in Chicago’s Grant Park ended up in disappointment. The fest was supposed to be the first legendary Pokémon raid for participants where players can team up to defeat the legendary Pokémon and have a chance of earning it, but the event was ruined by shoddy servers, preventing the participants from even playing.

The CEO of Niantic, John Hanke, was greeted with boos and continuous chanting of “We can’t play!” from the crowd.

The day not going as planned, Niantic is now offering the players who attended this event a full refund, and $100 in Pokécoins. Niantic will also be extending the radius that players must be inside to catch rare Pokémon to cover two miles outside of the park for the next 24 hours. Lastly, all registered attendees will have the Legendary Pokémon, Lugia, added to their account.

It is unfortunate how things have turned out, but perhaps next time everything will go more smoothly.
