Data-miners for the newest code updates to Pokémon GO have discovered that Legendary Pokémon will, unsurprisingly, be rather hard to catch. How hard? They have a 2% base catch rate (before any modifiers like Curve Balls and Golden Razz Berries). For comparison, Tyranitar has a catch rate of around 5%.

Furthermore, if you want to power them up, you’ll still need Candy. To gain a single Candy by having it as your Buddy Pokémon, you’ll have to walk a whole 20 kilometres. It is not yet known if Rare Candies will work on Legendary Pokémon.
