Pokémon GO Update: Improved Gym Features, Other Fixes

The game has been updated to version 0.69.0 for Android devices, 1.39.0 for Apple devices. Updated with datamine information!

Update: Details of the datamine have been added.

Heads up, Pokémon trainers! Pokémon GO has been updated to the latest version, adding few more features towards the gyms (which were revamped big time a couple weeks back), as well as some bug fixes throughout the app. The update has been implemented for both Apple and Android devices, and they are rolling in small batches so be patient if the update hasn’t hit just yet!

The more noticeable ones? The Gyms got a few extra perks from this update.

~ Added the ability for Trainers to spin the Photo Disc at a Gym after completing a Raid Battle.

~ Added the ability for Trainers to send Berries to their Pokémon defending Gyms through the Pokémon info screen when they are not nearby. Motivation regained will be less effective through this method.

~ Added the ability for Trainers to give Berries to Pokémon defending Gyms if their motivation meter is full.

This update basically gives trainers a bit more freedom when it comes to completing gym battles as well as raid battles. They will be able to get items after a raid battle by spinning the disc. They can also give more support to other trainers’ Pokémon with berries. Pretty cool, huh?

Other updates include the following, according to the Pokémon GO website:

~ Added icons to the Pokémon information screen to indicate how the Pokémon was caught.

~ Improved Pokémon Collection screen search functionality.

~ Fixed an issue where Trainers were unable to complete Raid Battles started before time expired on the map view.

~ Fixed an issue where Pokémon are not properly returned to their Trainer after defending a Gym.

~ Various bug fixes.

Changes not mentioned include a few nice touches. When feeding Berries to a Gym defender, the choice will not change to Razz berry but rather be the berry you last used to feed a Pokémon. Coins earned from your Pokémon leaving a Gym are now also displayed in your in-game Journal.

The Silph Road has datamined the newest update. A QR Code Scanner function has been found, as well as code for a special Poké Stop involved with check-in for the Chicago GO Fest event. A badge as been added to the game code for participants at said event. An “Exclusive Raid” type has been added, and code to support event-specific Poké Stops.

Lastly, extra assets have been added to support legendaries. Chances are good that the special challenge at the end of the Chicago GO Fest, as well as the Worldwide challenge afterwards, will feature Legendary Pokémon!

Here’s what’s been added:

  1. A new attribute for all Pokemon called: ISLEGENDARYORMYTHIC (Hype!)
  2. A new warning message if you try to transfer a legendary
  3. A new error message if you try to deploy a legendary to a gym, called DISABLED_LEGENDARY_KEY
  4. A new check for Raid Bosses called GET_ISEVENTLEGENDARY

A few new image assets have appeared in this APK including (which we won’t include, to preserve the experience!):

  • A new legendary icon (of a Lugia) to mark legendary Raids at gyms
  • A new ‘victory’ banner to appear above gyms after successful legendary Raids

Best of luck to those of you who are gym battlers, and hope you take advantage of this great update!
