Two Sinnoh games announced in Pokémon Presents

Twice the Sinnoh, twice the fun! Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and an open world game set in the past.

Two new games have been announced in the Pokémon Presents video for the 25th anniversary of the franchise. Both games will be set in Sinnoh.

The stream started with a tribute to all games and products, and followed with New Pokémon Snap, showing new footage. Tyranitar ate a not-apple in a ‘wild way’, and the glowing tool was shown. Rare moments captured in photos can earn you a rating of 4 stars, supposedly the maxiumum (but not confirmed). You can edit and share your photos as well. Celebi features as the mythical Pokémon of the game.

Gigantamax Pikachu Raids will begin in Pokémon Sword and Shield, as part of events celebrating the anniversary.

Remakes were then announced for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, ‘faithful’ remakes of the generation four games set for Late 2021. This will be devloped by ILCA Inc., and directed by both Yuichi Ueda and Junichi Masuda (who evidently cannot remain retired from game directing). It’s evidently based on Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu and Eevee in the battle system, and very accurate at least in map design to the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games. It appeared that the Underground is back during one second of the trailer (but no details beyond that), and the Union Room also was sighted.

Pokémon Legends Arceus was announced for release in Early 2022. It is an open world game set ‘in the Sinnoh of old’ where you can throw Poké Balls while in the overworld. Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott are the Starter Pokémon introduced in this Sinnoh by an unnamed Professor. You can engage in Pokémon battles alongside your Pokémon. Arceus is featured in the plot in some way. Environments admittedly seem a bit rough, but more varied than the Wild Areas of Pokémon Sword and Shield, and will likely be updated further.

Amusing, the stream lagged for many watchers.

What are your thoughts of the games revealed?
