The first Online Competition for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has been announced for the Pokémon Global Link. The competition is known as the Johto x Alola Competition, and the only Pokémon eligible for use are those found native to the Johto Region Pokédex and the Alola Region Pokédex, with the exclusion of mythical and some legendary Pokémon.

The competition will consist of Double Battles with teams of six Pokémon; four of which will compete in each battle. Each Pokémon, regardless of level, will be set to Level 50. There are no item restrictions (except for duplicate items), and each match will be 10 minutes, with turns lasting 45 seconds.

Each qualified participant will earn 50 Battle Points, and must participate in at least one battle to qualify.

Registration will begin on December 7, 2017 at 00:00 UTC and end December 14, 2017 at 23:59 UTC. The competition will begin on December 15, 2017 at 00:00 UTC and run through December 17, 2017 at 23:59 UTC. Trainers are limited to 15 battles per day. Additionally, Junior Division trainers (born after 2003) are limited to playing between the hours of 6:00 a.m. through 11:00 p.m. based on the easternmost timezone in their home country.

As a reminder, this competition is for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon only, and not Sun and Moon.
