New Pokémon GO Update will make getting evolution items easier

It also comes with minor text fixes.

The next update for Pokémon GO is on its way out soon. One of the complaints about the recent generation two update was that evolution items such as Metal Coat, Upgrade and Dragon Scale – necessary for the likes of Scizor, Porygon2 and Kingdra among others – were too darn rare. This update seems to address that concern:

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.59.1 for Android and 1.29.1 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

  • The 7-day ‘First PokéStop of the Day’ streak will now award a random Evolution item.
  • Minor text fixes.

This now means that, as long as you spin a PokéStop every day, you’re assured of at least one item a week. This helps considerably when they were estimated to be less than a 1% chance to get!
