Buddy system coming to Pokémon GO!
Official confirmation from Niantic about an incoming Buddy System has been given.
By Ever wish for the ability to have a Pokémon be by your side in Pokémon GO? Currently that is not an option in-game. However, according to the Niantic website, a future update will change that by allowing you to pick out the Pokémon of your choice to be your Buddy:
Today we wanted to let you know about a new feature for the game that is just around the corner.
The next addition to Pokémon GO will be Buddy Pokémon. You will be able to pick your favorite Pokémon from your collection to become your buddy, opening up unique in-game rewards and experiences. Buddy Pokémon will appear alongside your Trainer avatar on your profile screen, adding helpful bonuses such as awarding Candy for walking together. You’ll also have the ability to change your Buddy Pokémon at any time.

Some data miners initially found out about this system by examining code in the previous update. There’s no set date for this update, but sounds like it will be really soon. Who’s excited for this upcoming feature?
