Rachael Lillis, English voice of Misty and Jessie, has passed away
Beloved Pokémon anime series voice actor Rachael Lillis has passed away at 55.
Undoubtedly an important part of many childhoods, voice actor Rachael Lillis has passed away from breast cancer on August 10, 2024, at the age of 55.
She was best known in the Pokémon fandom for her role as Misty, Jessie, Maylene, Jigglypuff, and several other more minor characters, where she was a voice actor until 2015.
She was also a prominent voice in other series – you may have heard her as Ryoko Miyazono (Kaori’s mother) in Your Lie in April, Mito Freecss (Gon’s mother) in Hunter x Hunter (2011), and Pirika in Shaman King.
Rachael had been battling cancer since earlier this year. Just a few months ago, her sister, Laurie, set up a GoFundMe page to assist her with ongoing medical needs. This fundraiser is still up and accepting donations to cover her remaining medical bills. She was also the one who put together the header image we are using at the top of this article.
Thank you, Rachael, for filling our lives with so much happiness. From someone who grew up with the Pokémon anime series and had it change her for the better – we won’t ever forget the impact you’ve left on us.
Who was your favorite character voiced by Rachael Lillis? Did they leave a lasting impression on you?
