Splatoon, Mario Maker celebrates original Pokémon games

When the next Splatfest results are in, who will win?

The unique shooter game Splatoon for the Wii U regularly has events known as ‘Splatfests’, in which players pick a side – for instance, Cats versus Dogs – and battle it out to claim victory. The result is determined both by how many people voted for a team and the win ration between the two sides.

In the lead-up to the Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow re-release on 3DS, today the official Splatoon Tumblr account for the US have announced the next theme for Splatfest: Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue!

BREAKING NEWS! We’ve just learned that the next Splatfest is being presented by none other than… drumroll, please…  Pokémon!

Head to the Inkopolis Plaza and select which game is your favorite: Pokémon Red or Pokémon Blue!

This Splatfest will begin on February 19 at 10:00 PM PT and will run until February 20 at 10:00 PM PT.

This Splatfest will also happen simultaneously around the world. Like any other Splatfest, however, players you get matched with will be from your region, and the results will also be tallied by each region.

By the way, did you know that in Japan the first Pokémon game was released in a “Red Version” and a “Green Version,” but in North America and Europe, the two versions were “Red Version” and “Blue Version.”  So for this Splatfest, in North America, it will be “Red vs Blue.”

European players will enjoy this Splatfest as well. Such a choice shouldn’t be taken lightly, and the results will be interesting to see. Which one will you choose?

Splatoon wasn’t the only game to feature Pokémon either – today another Wii U game in Mario Maker announced special costumes of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, obtainable by playing a special event course.
