The second Splatfest for the new Nintendo Switch title Splatoon 3 has just been announced, and it’s a Pokémon theme! The fight is between three types – Grass, Fire, and Water!

Grass-type. Fire-type. Water-type. This debate has perplexed our great philosophers for ages. Let’s settle it.

The Splatfest begins on the 11th of November (Friday), and will likely run through much of the weekend. Meanwhile, Japan will sell special themed shirts – that is, if you can win a lottery.

Given the Starter Pokémon of the generation nine games (Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly) are featured in the artwork, and the date is a mere week before the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it’s evidently a way to advertise those games. The same happened with the first Splatoon game’s crossover event with the Pokémon franchise – Pokémon Blue (or Pokémon Green in Japan) beat out Pokémon Red, although not in popularity.
