The winning shirt design to be removed from Pokémon Sword and Shield
Self plagiarism is the issue – the design had been used before, breaking competition rules.
Clothes customisation for the next main series titles Pokémon Sword and Shield had been confirmed earlier this week. Previously, the winning entry was to be featured in-game. However, this was soon discovered to be an ineligible entry, as the creator had previously used this design on other products, including phone cases.
The winner of the Uniqlo T Shirt contest confirmed with self plagiarism.
It is against the rules for competitors to use their past manufactured designs in the contest.
It is found that the winner had sold T-shirts with the exact same design before. pic.twitter.com/RpgHnSv011— FakeSlurpuff (@FakeSlurpuff) May 20, 2019
The webpage on the Uniqlo website has since been updated. Sadly it currently appears the runner up’s design will not be ported to the game.
Are you disappointed the original design will no longer be available in the official games?
