Starting on May 24 at 1:00 PM PDT (8:00 PM GMT), the event lasts until June 5, which is the same day that Latias, Latios and Ho-Oh will leave Pokémon GO Raid Battles.
New Shiny Pokémon
Aerodactyl, Kabuto and Omanyte have been confirmed to be the new Shiny Pokémon added to the game. Good luck finding one of these!
New Field Research Tasks
New Field Research tasks will be available. These are described as Adventure Week quests in their title. Quests include:
- Hatching Eggs (reward of encounter with Omanyte, or a Rare Candy)
- Earn three Buddy Candy (reward of encounter with Kabuto)
- Evolving Kabuto or Omanyte (reward of encounter with Aerodactyl),
- Spin two PokéStops not visited before (Onix encounter)
Raid Bosses
New Raid battles have also appeared, featuring Rock-type Pokémon. Reports have indicated the following, with new Raid bosses in bold:
- Tier 1: Kabuto, Omanyte, Anorith, Lileep, Magikarp
- Tier 2: Magcargo, Nosepass, Sudowoodo, Mawile
- Tier 3: Shuckle, Solrock (US), Lunatone (AUS), Aerodactyl, Machamp
- Tier 4: Rhydon, Golem, Tyranitar, Absol, Aggron
Rock-type spawns, XP and Buddy Candy
Additionally, the main focus of this event is an increase in the spawn rate of Rock-type Pokémon. During the event period, Pokémon such as Geodude, Anorith and Onix will spawn more frequently. Buddy Pokémon will earn Candy at a faster rate (4x faster), and extra XP will be awarded for spinning PokéStops or Gyms. This can be up to 10 times the usual amount if the player spins a PokéStop or Gym they have not visited before.
Which Rock-types are you looking forward to getting out and catching the most?
