New Pokémon trademark filed by Game Freak

A new trademark has been filed by Game Freak. However, it is not known what it actually entails.

It appears as though Game Freak has filed a mysterious new trademark for some Pokémon-related merchandise, simply titled as “Ultra Shiny”.

At this moment in time, there is no confirmation about what this trademark entails. The most obvious implication is something to do with Shiny Pokémon, but these are not a new addition to the franchise. Also in Japan, Shiny Pokémon are simply referred to as “different coloured Pokémon” which makes this unlikely. Another possibility is that this could be related to the upcoming Pokémon title on Nintendo Switch, which is currently in development. If this is the case, then it would be plausible that this is preparing for some kind of big reveal at this upcoming E3.

It should also be noted that a trademark does not necessarily imply that a new game is on the way. During the pre-release period of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, a trademark for “Pokémon Delta Emerald” was filed by Game Freak, and this game never released. It could very well be plausible that this is not a new release, but it is not known for sure.

What do you think this trademark could be?
