Recent “Generation 8 Starter” images confirmed as fake

The original artist has shown images and video proving they made the rather impressive fakes. Alas, no platypus starter!

Over the last day the newest wave of fake information about the next Pokémon title for the Nintendo Switch had spread over the internet. This was about new Starter Pokémon, and was notable because the designs both looked good and they were hard to dismiss as fake, in part due to the closeness in style to real leaks for the final stages of the Alola Starter Pokémon.

Pokémon Millennium has since revealed that the above images (originally without the artist credit and in its place a ‘Confidential’ tag) were created by artist 50 Shades of Heliolisk. He has also uploaded a video as further proof he is the creator.

Are you disappointed that these turned out to be fake? What do you think about artists who make these fakes in the first place?
