Ryan Reynolds to Star in Detective Pikachu

The Deadpool actor will be starring alongside Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies).

Ryan Reynolds looks set to star in the Detective Pikachu movie that begins filming in London in January! Directed by Rob Letterman, the film will see Reynolds take on the role of the titular character – Detective Pikachu himself!

The story is said to revolve around Justice Smith’s (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) character’s father being kidnapped, and finds himself teaming up with Pikachu to try and find him. They are joined by Kathryn Newton’s (Big Little Lies) character, who is a sassy journalist who helps them along the way.

While further details of the movie are still a blur, sources are saying that the nature of Pikachu’s involvement in the story will be filmed using the Motion Capture technique. The rest of the casting is still shrouded in mystery, as the company responsible, Legendary, are often very secretive. They have high hopes for the film, and could potentially be a hit with children and adults alike.
