Legendary Pokémon, PvP coming for Pokémon GO this summer

A Portuguese interview with Niantic’s Vice President of Strategic Partnerships reveals the plans for Legendaries and more this summer.

Much has been said about a recent hint by Niantic and Legendary Pokémon not yet released in Pokémon GO, where a spokeperson stated “This summer will be legendary”. Player-versus-Player (PvP) gameplay was also mentioned by Niantic CEO John Hanke earlier this year. An interview published in O GLOBO with the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships of Niantic, Mathieu de Fayet, has revealed these features will come this summer (the Northern Hemisphere summer; June-August).

The interview is in Portuguese, but the handy Google Translate tool offers the following:

Because of the great success, we had to postpone some news that was planned. Now, we are working on some news for next summer (Northern Hemisphere), how to give more value to team choice, the release of Legendary Pokémon and battles between players. One thing we learned from “Ingress” is that the game holds if we are able to create social interactions between players, and we are working on it.

A fan translation on The Silph Road Reddit gives the same information. Check out the full article for more interesting parts such as how the Mayor of Rio contacted them to get the game out in Brazil prior to the Rio 2016 Olympics!

Are you keen on getting a Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO?
