PokéCommunity Daily News Roundup: Week of 3/6/2017

A Mega Stone distribution, another Mega Stone distribution, a Global Mission, and everything else you need to know in Pokémon this week.

Welcome to the PokéCommunity Daily News Roundup for the week of March 6th, 2017! Read this every Monday to catch up on what is hip and happening in the Pokémon world, faster than forgetting HM05!

This week: Horrible abuse of a giant tree on Poni Island and Mega Stones for everyone (except the cool Pokémon like Gardevoir)!

Main Series

Global Mission IV: The (Battle) Tree of Giving

The 4th Global Mission is going on now in Sun and Moon, which mandates that the world must get 250,000 BP at the Battle Tree for the base prize (lots of festival coins) or 500,000 BP for the bonus prize (more candy and a heavy ball for participants with PGL accounts). Given we are already at 5 MILLION, it is probably safe to assume that we will be receiving the full prize. Of course, you still need to set up Game Sync and actually record 3 BP for yourself if you want the bonus prizes.

Mega Mewtwo’s Descent

The world can now download Mewtwo’s two Mega Stones, the Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y, to their 7th Gen games. You must go to Mystery Gift and input the Serial Code M2DESCENT to claim your lovely party gift. This distribution has no stated end time. They currently can’t be used on Battle Spot, but that will be fixed soon.

Competition Rewards: Making Mawile (and Beedrill) Great Again

For those who joined the International Challenge February, your lovely participation prize of a Mawilite and a Beedrillite becomes available this Tuesday. It will be a code found somewhere on the Global Link once you are logged in. There is currently no word on when the code needs to be redeemed by, but why would you ever wait? Those who didn’t participate get the privilege of patiently suffering for yet another month without the cutest Mega Evolution, but you will get it sometime in April. For now, these Mega Stones can only be used in unranked Battle Spot battles, but that will change the next time the Ranked season turns over on March 21st.

Kanto x Alola Regional Rumble

Signups for the next PGL tournament, the Kanto x Alola Regional Rumble, open on Thursday. In this event, trainers are only allowed to use Pokémon from the Kanto or Alola regional Pokédexes. Current intel says you will be allowed to use Pokémon brought in from other games, as well as the Kantonian forms of Pokémon that received Alolan forms. Mega Stones are still banned, but the participation prize is Mega Stones for Pidgeot and Steelix. The competition itself will run Friday-Sunday on the weekend of March 17th.

Cocoa-colored Koko

A Shiny black Tapu Koko is coming to a bunch of stores that aren’t near you unless you live in Japan! Japanese players can start to collect a Lv60 Shiny Koko from March 12th to April 9th from a bunch of different places, including but not limited to Seven Eleven and the Pokémon Center stores.

Bottle Cap Distribution

If you haven’t already, you can pick up a free Bottle Cap from your local GameStop equivalent until Tuesday in most places that aren’t the UK. We covered this distribution in full.

Rare Candy!

If you completed five GTS trades during the last Global Mission, you can download five Rare Candies and a Friend Ball via serial code obtained from the Global Link at any point between now and March 30th.

Banknium Z

Pokémon Bank customers can download a Mewnium Z to their 7th Gen games. This distribution runs until October 17th.

Spin-offs and Other Stuff

Duel Balance Patch

Pokémon Duel released a Balance Patch last week, containing some buffs for Charizard, Zygarde, Metagross, and Tyranitar (all EXes). There were also a couple new figures, of which the important ones are Reshiram and Zekrom.

Shuffle Events

Special stages for a number of legendaries introduced in Gen 4 are now playable on Shuffle. Specifically, this is the Lunar Duo (Darkrai and Cresselia) and the Lake Trio (Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf). These stages all go away on March 14th.

Anime

New Episode(s)

In Japan, Episode 960 – “Alola Detective Rotom! The Mystery of the Lost Crystal!!” is expected to air on Thursday. It has Rotomdex wearing a weird wig, so it must be good? There is sadly still no sign of the western Sun and Moon localization. Kostas, as usual, has meticulously analyzed this week’s Japanese episode.

Movies

Some info was revealed about the upcoming Pokémon movie “Pokémon I Choose You” appeared in the form of a new trailer. It showed that the movie is basically Episode 1 turned into a full-length feature film.
