Pokémon Theme Song ranked #232 by Dutch radio station

The song is still going strong since 1997.

Apparently the official Pokémon theme song has been hitting the radio in The Netherlands a lot this year.

De Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (Dutch Public Broadcasting) has released their annual list of the top 2000 songs played this year. For the second year, “Gotta Catch ‘Em All (Pokémon Theme Song)”, as performed by Jason Paige for the 1997 album “2.B.A. Master”, has made the list. This year, it landed the 232nd spot, an improvement of a whopping 1434 spots from its 2015 placement of 1666th. This placement leaves the Pokémon theme more popular than many popular songs on American radio this year, such as Twenty One Pilot’s hit “Stressed Out” (1166) and Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling” (363). In fact, it placed better than any song released in 2016.

According to the countdown’s official site, this sudden surge in airtime is due in large part to the release of Pokémon GO over the summer.

The whole countdown is being streamed this entire week, with “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” expected to air very early (between Midnight and 2 AM GMT+1) on 31st December.
