Pokémon Global Link service ending late October

Game Sync and Random Matchup Rating Battles will go as the system is prepared for Pokémon Sun and Moon.

It has been announced that the various aspects of the online system, Global Link, for all 6th generation Pokémon games will end next month. This affects Pokémon XPokémon YPokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. The Global Link system will be updated in preparation for Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon and is scheduled to be ready for those games’ launch dates of November 18th.

Important highlights are as follows:

  • You will no longer be able to use Game Sync functions.
  • You won’t be able to participate in ‘Random Matchup Rating Battles’ with generation 6 games. However, you will still be able to do Random Matchup Free Battles, the GTS and Wonder Trades.
  • You can’t transfer PokéMiles earned in 6th gen games to Pokémon Sun or Moon. You better claim them now! This likely doesn’t apply to those gained in Pokémon Bank, however.

There are more details about this on the website. There is also an announcement about a ‘Thanks’ Campaign:
