Trademarks hint at identity of Pokémon Sun and Moon Mascots

Nothing is confirmed, but trademarks may be the names of the box cover legendaries.

It has been discovered by members of website Neogaf that back in February 2016, two trademarks were registered for ‘Solgaleo’ (ソルガレオ) and ‘Lunaala’ (ルナアーラ).

These are thought to be the names of the Legendary Pokémon for Pokémon Sun and Moon. Serebii.net offers the following on this finding:

However, unlike all Pokémon trademarks, these trademarks weren’t registered by Nintendo, Game Freak or Creatures Inc. but rather listed under the name Yusuke Inui who, upon research, appears to be an IP lawyer in Japan. It’s possible that this is just a registration via proxy which does happen from time to time, but it is 100% not confirmed that these trademarks pertain to Pokémon.

Exercise some scepticism, but it remains that the trademark itself may very well be linked to the Pokémon to be revealed to be on the boxes of the games. The inclusion of ‘Sol’ (Latin for ‘Sun’) and ‘Luna’ (or ‘Moon’) in these names also ties in well with Sun and Moon.
